Pokhara University (PoU or PU) was established in 1997 located at Pokhara, lekhnath municipality, Kaski District Gandaki Province, thirteen kilometers east of the heart of  Pokhara city. PU is also a part of a government institution to improve access to higher education where the Prime Minister is a chancellor and ministry of education is a pro-chancellor and the principal administrator of the university is a vice-chancellor.  It is a non-profitable autonomous institution that is partially funded by the Nepal government and partly raised by students. 

PU started its semester system based curriculum and evaluation set up to achieve its objectives.  Bachelor for four years (Eight Semester) and Master’s for two years (four semesters) Pokhara University has four Constituent institutions where PhD, Master’s and Bachelor degree is running. It has 57 academic institutions under its affiliation with PhD, M. Phil, Bachelors and master’s program. It has is a Central office building, Academic building, and Examination office Building in Khudi-Dhungepath, Lekhnath Municipality, Pokhara.

Scholarship Scheme:

Pokhara University reserved its scholarship of 10 percent of the approved quota of students in affiliated colleges and 20 percent in their constituent institutions. Students from non-government and government both can apply for the scholarship who are eligible to apply and for financial support. The only students who passed SLC from government school were only eligible to apply for scholarships till 2017.
